TV show films pilot episode
It was Team Zelda vs. Team Darkness. Team Zelda's modified race car, a Nissan 350Z and Team Darkness' modified race car, a Shelby Mustang GT, each with over 500 horsepower and turbochargers, raced each other one-quarter mile at Coastal Plains Raceway on Saturday at the filming of the finale of the pilot episode for "MODS," an upcoming reality show. The television show is slated to air on a major cable network this summer, said Steve McMillan, the executive producer from Cape Fear Productions. "This will be a seven-episode show, and we are co-producing it with Dv3 Productions from Wilmington," McMillan said. "The show features two teams, each with three contestants who are given the opportunity to modify a sports car and then race the cars against each other for prizes and incentives," McMillan explained.

Scion xB MotorWeek's 'Best'
CHICAGO, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- The boxy Scion xB compact utility vehicle was named the "Best of the Year" by MotorWeek Wednesday at the 100th Chicago Auto Show. "Our Scion owners asked for a bigger and better box and we responded with the 2008 xB," said Scion Vice President Jack Hollis. The Honda Accord was "Best Family Sedan," the Dodge Grand Caravan/Chrysler Town & Country "Best Minivan," Chrysler Sebring "Best Convertible," Mercedes-Benz C-Class "Best Luxury Sedan," Cadillac CTS "Best Sport Sedan" and Volkswagen R32 "Best Performance Car." "The Nissan Rogue was "Best Small Utility," Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon "Best Large Utility," Buick Enclave/GMC Acadia/Saturn Outlook "Best Crossover Utility, Ford F-150 "Best Pickup," and the Chevy Tahoe Hybrid/GMC Yukon Hybrid "Best Eco-Friendly." Not one dark Satanic mill in sight from an icon of British industry
At Rolls-Royce motors there are more people who work in the leather and wood departments than there are on the production line. Those divisions boast people who have worked in the fashion industry or who have been furniture-makers, not the usual backgrounds for the car industry. Neither is the factory your average manufacturing operation. Set in rolling hills on the Goodwood estate, not far from the Goodwood racecourse and in sight of a busy aerodrome, the gleaming new environmentally friendly building is about as far from traditional industry as you can get. Yet inside the factory, which has produced about 1,000 Phantoms this year, time has, in some ways, stood still. There is very little automation. Only four robots operate in the paint shop and the huge cars are pushed along the production track with the majority of the work painstakingly carried out by hand.
